Clinic Hours Monday-Friday - 8am -5pm

No holidays or weekends

Pay Range

$21.85 - $32.80

Major Responsibilities:

  • Makes adjustments to ensure maximum utilization of rooms and equipment, coordinating with surgical team leader as needed. Collaborates with anesthesia to determine number of anesthesia providers available and coordinates changes to existing schedule with appropriate departments/staff. Ensures all changes and updates are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates communication for the OR utilizing working knowledge of multiple line telephone, paging system, and hospital information system. Makes calls/pages to physicians with schedule changes and additions.
  • Acts as a resource to all staff and callers (i.e., physicians, nurses, technicians, patients and families, hospital floors, hospitals outside the medical center, drug representatives, etc.).
  • Answers, screens, triages, prioritizes, and determines urgency of incoming calls. Takes messages or makes pages as needed. Responds to a wide variety of questions requiring considerable knowledge of department. As appropriate, attempts to resolve issues to limit calls forwarded to staff.
  • Responds immediately to emergency situations; takes and documents information, orders needed supplies and contacts appropriate staff. Serves as resource person for surgical questions.
  • Processes patient charges, calculates procedure time, and enters data into computer. Reviews reports to ensure appropriate charges for each patient. Verifies correct entry of codes.
  • Operates computer terminals, printers, copy machine, and fax machine. Troubleshoots all equipment as necessary.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.


Education Required:

  • High School Graduate.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in insurance coding and scheduling of patients in a health care setting.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) coding.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar products.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and human relations skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have high level of attention to detail.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a fast-paced, high noise-level office environment.
