Job Summary: This SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER position, is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility and is part of the CA FMS 34 Santa Rosa.

Major Duties:

  • THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-11, is to serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-11. Performs mechanic duties such as maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications: General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-11: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 24 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment; ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
