Enforces institutional and department policy and regulations and initiates disciplinary action where appropriate. Ensures appropriate setup of weekly guard schedules to include monitoring of overtime and ensuring appropriate coverage for unscheduled absences. Investigates campus security incidents and prepares appropriate reports. Notifies proper campus personnel and/or external groups as necessary (i.e. Security Management, Coordinators, Human Resources and MPD) when and incident occurs. Responds to medical emergencies, fire alarms, irradiator alarms and coordinates response of security personnel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage security specialists; Enforce institutional and department policy, regulations and initiates disciplinary action, as appropriate.
- Investigate security incidents and prepare appropriate reports to be presented to relevant stakeholders, as applicable.
- Assist the Manager of Security Operations in ensuring proper supervision, monitoring, and performance of the Security Operations Specialist work group.
- Ensure expeditious and accurate responses to requests and emergency situations.
- Notify relevant teams (e.g., Security Management, Coordinators, Human Resources, MPD), as and when incident occurs, for immediate resolution.
- Mentor team members to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- High School Degree with 3+ years of security related experience (e.g., security program, police organization, military branch, conflict counselling) preferably in a hospital, government or corporate security program or police organization.
- Experience customer service and conflict resolution including creating and maintaining records and documentation.
- Experience with security equipment and surveillance systems.
- Some experience working with cross-functional teams, preferred.
- Some experience managing/ mentoring less experienced team members (e.g., Security specialists).
- Proven performance in earlier role.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
- LSGO-TN (Licensed Security Guard/Officer-Tennessee) Must attain Licensed Unarmed Security Officer certification for the State of Tennessee within 60 days of employment.
- CHSS-TN (Supervisor Level Certification) and CAHSO – TN (Advanced Level Certification). Must attain Supervisor and Advanced level certifications within 60 days of employment.
- LC: DLD-TN or DLD-ARK or DLD-MISS or DLD-RESIDE. Must have a valid driver’s license from the employee’s state of residence and a valid (LC: AUTO) insurance policy on the vehicle which meets the requirements for the state of Tennessee and be insurable by St. Jude’s insurance carrier.

- Leverages security expertise to monitor daily security activities and enforce control; Ensures company security policies are strictly followed.
- Reviews and amends security policies and procedures, as needed.
- Conducts security self-inspections, applies risk mitigation methodologies, and oversees implementation security measures to meet safety requirements.
- Undergoes and clears necessary background checks and driving skills.
- Able to draw insights from different sets of data and quickly understand why issues are happening.
- Solves problems quickly by identifying the root causes.
- Encourages others to see the opportunities ahead amidst changing circumstances even when the details have not been finalized.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Successfully complete a physical/health screening examination by Occupational Health, which includes a drug screening; successfully meet and maintain Campus Safety and Security physical requirements.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $26.00 - $45.50 per hour for the role of Supv-Security Lieutenant.
