Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER for The ZUMWALT Class Program Office (PMS 500) of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) of PROGRAM EXECUTIVE OFFICE SHIPS. You will manage the complete lifecycle support for all ZUMWALT Class ships through OWLD of the final ship of the class and is the principal interface with the Surface Warfare Enterprise. The directorate is responsible for the maintenance and modernization of ZUMWALT Class ships being delivered to the fleet.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as Principal Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering Branch in PMS 500, the Zumwalt Class Destroyer Program Office and as supervisor provide administrative and policy direction to broadly define functions of the organization.
  • You will manage and direct work of multi discipline integrated product teams; control and apply resources to engineering efforts; collect information and conduct analyses/studies on critical manufacturing technologies for ship and weapon systems.
  • You will as PAPM evaluate a variety of interrelated subject matter, that include technical, financial, contractual, programmatic, or other program office focus areas.
  • You will lead PMS 500 Systems Engineering division, including the Naval field activity engineers, contractor support, subject matter experts, and NAVSEA 05 new construction and in-service technical representatives.
  • You will ensure solutions and fielding plans are properly managed for configuration control across the class and develop risk inputs, provide assessments and mitigation plans, and track to the developed plan with appropriate acceptance authorities.
  • You will develop and implement strategies for shipboard system modernization, system performance and reliability improvements, and procurement based on findings from key program specialists and analysts; leads efforts for these studies and analysis.
  • You will work closely with PAPMs, Program Managers, Deputy Program Managers, project engineers, and program sponsors to analyze and define activities and engineering efforts required to support the DDG1000 Class.
  • You will identify and facilitate potential solutions and evaluates technical, cost, and schedule implications of each viable solution as well as recommend course of action to senior stakeholders.
  • You will perform program reviews and recommend improvements to production and programmatic deficiencies also, review and prepare program documentation to determine appropriate changes or corrective actions.
  • You will formulate yearly program budget requirements to identify man-year, contract/procurement, and other projected costs within an overall program financial requirements plan.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NH-03 (GS-13 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer managing ship construction projects (i.e.: design, requirements, budget, etc.) to maintain and improve system engineering performance.
