Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER performing the role of the Propulsion/Auxilliary Division Manager in the ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible as the Command and the NAVSEA/PMS on-site manager for design, construction and repair of nuclear submarines through a multi-function teaming effort.
  • You will serve on technical and management teams to influence the technical evolution of the design and to assure that the processes and procedures that define the program incorporate the latest concepts and automation.
  • You will be responsible for the technical adequacy of the decisions and positions taken by subordinates, for providing direction to subordinates and making recommendations to higher authority.
  • You will serve as technical consultant to NAVSEA/PMS, other activities and internal higher authority on controversial and complex matters.
  • You will resolve through negotiation and coordination technical conflicts or differing positions among involved personnel from other groups including the contractor, other SUPSHIP departments and components, NAVSEA and other activities.
  • You will be responsible for the management of the resources and work of subordinate branches.
  • You will manage the focus of resources to expeditiously address and resolve technical program issues in both conventional and multi-functional concurrent engineering environment.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (GS-13 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer managing projects and resources, while providing expert guidance to senior leaders on technical issues and complex systems for ships.
