Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a Supervisory Fire Protection Specialist in the Commander Navy Region Japan (CNRJ) & Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) of COMMANDER, NAVAL REGION JAPAN.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience implementing and supervising the functions of an effective fire prevention program, through inspections, training and enforcement of fire regulations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Additional Condition of Employment Continued: ***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: DoD certifications Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor II, and HazMat Incident Command to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.*** You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operator Course. You must have a government vehicle operator's permit. Work requires an annual physical. Work requires participation in a physical fitness program. Incumbent will be required to work a 60 hour work week with eating and sleeping facilities provided in accordance with general fire fighting practices. Work schedule will consist of four 9 hour days and one 24 hour shift per week. You will work in various settings, such as office buildings, warehouses, industrial buildings, and construction sites and you are required to wear protective clothing such as mask, goggles, gloves, shields etc. You are requied to lift up to 50 pounds, walking 2-4 hours daily, occasional climbing and maintaining mental alertness, self-control and emotional stablility to carry out the duties of this position.
