Wellways are seeking a team of compassionate and resilient Disability Support Workers to support participants with intense, high needs. This role is ideal for someone experienced, calm under pressure and committed to providing safe, person-centred supports.

About the Role

You will provide support to participants with complex physical and psychosocial needs, supporting their safety, dignity and quality of life. Supports may take place in the home and community and require strong boundaries, emotional awareness and teamwork.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting participants with intense high needs

  • Providing personal care (including hygiene and daily living supports)

  • Assisting with wheelchair mobility and transfers

  • Supporting individuals who may engage in or experience self-harm behaviours, using trauma-informed and safety-focused approaches

  • Building trust and maintaining a calm, respectful presence during challenging moments

  • Accurate documentation and communication with the wider support team

Shifts & Rostering

  • Buddy shifts provided to start for a safe and supported onboarding

  • Weekends, evenings and active overnight shifts available

  • Rotating roster, flexibility required

About You

  • Experience supporting people with complex or high-needs disabilities

  • Confident providing personal care and physical support

  • Comfortable supporting participants with challenging behaviours, including self-harm

  • Calm, patient and emotionally resilient

  • Strong communication and professional boundaries

  • Relevant qualifications (Certificate III/IV in Disability or equivalent preferred)

Pre-employment requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification in Certificate Level 3 or 4 Mental Health, Disability, Aged Care or Home and Community Care (desirable)

  • Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport or birth certificate

  • A current valid Driver's Licence and an insured and registered vehicle

  • Police Records Check

  • Blue Card and NDIS Workers Screening Check

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – free online certificate
