About the Role:

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team based in Bryson Court for a specific female service user. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Support Worker to support our service user to live an independent life and to enjoy social activities in the community.  

Our service user lives in her own house in Bryson Court, a purpose built support complex with 16 houses.  

She is a 37-year-old female that can display moments of challenging behaviours that include self-harming and low mood.

To keep her safe our service user requires a strong support worker to encourage personal care, to engage with activities and this will support with her mental health.

A typical day will include personal, oral care and ensuring that appropriate clothes are selected for the day ahead, support with medication, shopping to include healthy food choices, housework and finances.

When out in the community our service user requires 2-1 support. All Training in therapeutic strategies for her daily routines will be provided.

Activities she enjoys:

  • Enjoys 60s music, David bowie, pop music

  • Enjoys watching tv

  • Car programmes

  • Antique roadshow

  • Only fools and horses

  • Loves banter and jokes

Our Support Workers experience variety and a huge sense of reward and achievement in their daily activities where no two days are the same and we place huge emphasis on the fact that our customers are individuals, at Mears Supported Living we feel everyone deserves to be treated as such.

Role Criteria:

  • Friendly supportive and an understanding personality

  • Clear communicator

  • 2-1 support in the community (The 2nd person can be a male)

  • Enthusiasm

  • Passion

  • Compassion

  • The ability to show dignity and respect to our service users

  • Physical fitness (not extreme)

  • Ability to manage behaviour which challenges
