Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center

Shift: Full-time 40hrs/week 6:30a-3pm M-F

General Description:

Under immediate supervision, responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Surgical Suites.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Transports patients, specimens, supplies, blood and equipment as directed. Ensure all procedures are followed for the safe transport of blood and other specimens
  • Responsible for transporting patients and family to holding area or waiting rooms
  • Observes and communicates to OR desk or Charge Nurse any changes such as patient not being ready
  • Immediately reports any changes in patient’s condition during transport
  • May be required to take emergency action as needed
  • Helps to move and position patients in the Surgical Suite as needed
  • Completes required documentation (Approximately 50% of duties.)
  • Performs cleaning of operating rooms during turnover
  • Follows established procedures and guidelines for cleaning operating rooms
  • Performs daily and/or weekly cleaning within the Surgical Suites
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the department which includes cleaning hallways, bathrooms, lounges and supply areas
  • Complies with all relevant procedures and regulations related to hospital sanitation, cleanliness and safety
  • Uses all cleaning products and equipment appropriately and safely
  • Ensures that all procedures and regulations for proper disposal of waste items and material are followed
  • Responsible for restocking supplies, linens and solutions
  • Performs other support services as requested (Approximately 50% of duties.)

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: None.

Experience: Experience in healthcare preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:  Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Ability to perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and patients.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.   
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform effectively in an emergency situation.
