Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer to ensure the stability, security, and performance of key capital markets, banking, and trading systems. This role involves providing advanced support for enterprise trading platforms, market data feeds, and settlement systems, with a focus on incident resolution, troubleshooting, and system optimization. The incumbent will support a 24/7 operational environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and implement automation initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Software Requirements
Required:
Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration, scripting (Shell, Python), and log analysis
Expertise in SQL (complex joins, query optimization) using databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or similar
Experience managing batch processing tools such as Control-M
Familiarity with monitoring tools like Geneos, AppDynamics, or Splunk
Knowledge of microservices architecture supporting financial platforms
Understanding of ITIL framework and processes for incident, change, and problem management
Preferred:
Support experience with trading platforms such as Calypso, Murex, Apex, or similar systems
Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) supporting enterprise systems
Experience with automation tools and scripting for support processes (Ansible, Terraform)
Overall Responsibilities
Act as Level 3 escalation point for mission-critical trading, risk, payments, and settlement incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime
Perform deep troubleshooting across application, middleware, database, and infrastructure layers to identify root causes
Support trade lifecycle processes, including trade capture, validation, settlement, and reporting
Maintain detailed incident logs, RCA documentation, and support dashboards
Support deployments, patches, and system upgrades, validating post-deployment stability
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to resolve complex system issues and implement support automation
Optimize system configurations, batch processes, and performance tuning to meet SLAs
Support audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial systems
Lead proactive monitoring and automation initiatives to reduce manual support efforts and increase operational resilience

Languages & Scripting:
Required: Shell scripting, Python for automation and support tasks
Preferred: Java, PowerShell
Databases & Data Management:
Oracle, SQL Server, support for complex SQL queries, data validation, and reconciliation
Middleware & Scheduling:
Control-M or similar batch processing tools, middleware supporting trade/settlement systems
Monitoring & Logging:

Knowledge of financial security standards, encryption, audit logging, and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR)

5+ years in financial or enterprise systems support, with a focus on trading, settlement, or large-scale banking systems
Proven incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in mission-critical environments
Support experience with trade lifecycle management, market data feeds, and reconciliation systems
Familiarity with batch processing tools like Control-M and enterprise support frameworks such as ITIL
Experience supporting compliance and security requirements relevant to banking or financial sectors
Day-to-Day Activities
Monitor production systems, review system alerts, and analyze logs to proactively identify issues
Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to trade processing, settlement, or market data errors
Support deployment activities, configuration changes, and system upgrades with minimal impact
Conduct root cause analysis, document findings, and implement preventive measures
Automate routine tasks such as health checks, log analysis, and incident handling workflows
Coordinate with development and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot complex issues
Support emergency responses and participate in escalation calls as needed
Maintain detailed documentation, support procedures, and operational reports
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years supporting enterprise financial or trading systems, with experience in trade lifecycle or settlement systems preferred
Practical experience with Unix/Linux systems, scripting, and batch processing tools
Certification in ITIL, cloud support, or enterprise support is a plus
Proven track record supporting high-availability, mission-critical systems in large enterprise environments
