Job Summary: This position serves as Supply Technician (NX) for the Property Management Division within Lifecycle Management of the Logistics Service to ensure that non-expandable (NX) supplies and material are distributed to areas serviced by Supply Chain Management (SCM) and is located at the Manchester VA Medical Center in Manchester , NH.

Major Duties:

  • Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Reviews existing stock and manufacturers' catalogs, manuals and listings to obtain substitute or interchangeable items to supply in lieu of items requisitioned. Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non-expandable equipment and supplies. Provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers, descriptions, and size of parts needed. Periodically, reviews assigned manufacturers code and part numbers for continued validity and takes necessary action to update, delete, or dispose of in accordance with published guidelines. Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons and properly scans, bar codes, and stores supplies and material. Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized system of record systems to include but not limited to AEMS/MERS, SOARD/Maximo or similar non-expendable NX inventory management system. Processes receipt and turn-in transaction to record in the equipment system of record and account for incoming materiel. Delivers equipment in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring equipment and material delivered are in operational condition. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/30/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answers customer questions regarding supplies and materials.. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable..
