Job Summary: This position is a Supply Technician (Logistics Coordinator), GS-2005-7 working in Miles City, Montana for the US Wildland Fire Service. Major Duties:

  • As a Supply Technician (Logistics Coordinator), your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Receives and provides oversight to the receipt and validation of supply resource orders. Initiates procurement requests and submits requisitions. Develops and circulates clear and concise standard operating procedures. Estimates current work situation to meet potential workload and personnel requirements. Ensures quality and integrity by adherence to quality control standards and procedures.

Qualifications: In order to qualify for this position, you must possess the Minimum Qualification requirement listed below. To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must meet at least one of the following: 1. Experience: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 is required. Examples of work experience include, but are not limited to: Performing clerical support functions that support a wildland fire supply program; experience with wildland fire dispatch procedures used in dispatch of equipment and supplies; and a demonstrating knowledge of fire operations and safety precautions. 2. Education: 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position. You must provide a copy of your transcripts. 3. A combination of education and work experience as described above. You must provide a copy of your transcripts. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The work is generally sedentary, with some standing, stooping, and bending. Frequently lifts and carries loads up to 40 pounds. The work frequently requires long hours on short notice, callback in evenings or on weekends, and work shifts of 12 hours or more for extended periods. The incumbent may be subject to fire assignments in logistic support roles. The work is highly stressful during periods of intense support activity. Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in an office setting with frequent access to warehouse areas to verify receipts, inventory, and other documents. Some outdoor exposure occurs to visit other work units. The incumbent may have some exposure to materials handling equipment, equipment fumes, and other hazards associated with a warehouse environment. The climatic conditions are somewhat controlled, but exposure to variations in temperatures, humidity, drafts, and dust is likely.
