Department: Supply Chain

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supply Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and maintaining supply continuity for long lead‑time and critical materials supporting a low‑volume, high‑mix manufacturing environment. This role translates demand and production requirements into executable supply plans while proactively managing constraints, supplier capacity, inventory risk, and material availability to prevent disruptions to the master production schedule.

The Supply Planner partners cross‑functionally with procurement, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and suppliers to ensure service level targets are met while balancing inventory investment and risk. This role carries a higher level of responsibility, ownership, and independent judgment compared to entry‑level planning roles and may include mentoring or informal leadership responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Operate with a high sense of urgency, taking daily action to meet material availability, inventory, and service performance targets.
  • Follows all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethics codes including purchasing policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute supply plans for assigned commodities and suppliers, with an emphasis on long lead‑time and high‑risk components.
  • Create, release, and manage planned orders and purchase orders in the ERP system to support production and customer demand.
  • Monitor supplier commitments and delivery performance, ensuring materials arrive according to plan to support customer expectations.
  • Review past‑due and future‑risk orders, expedite or push purchase orders as required, and escalate unresolved supplier issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain uninterrupted supply of critical materials through proactive risk identification, recovery planning, and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop and maintain material recovery plans when supply disruptions occur, clearly communicating risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates on material status, including part availability, quantities, revision levels, confirmed delivery dates, and constraints impacting production.
  • Balance service level requirements with inventory investment, especially for long lead‑time and constrained items.
  • Verify accuracy of receiving data (price, quantity, and condition) and support resolution of discrepancies.
  • Participate in annual physical inventory activities for assigned commodities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, sales, engineering, and logistics to identify upcoming demand and future material requirements.
  • Support engineering changes by assessing supply impact, capacity constraints, and inventory exposure.
  • Communicate BOM errors or data integrity issues to appropriate stakeholders to ensure accurate planning outputs.
  • Support NCR and CAF processes to minimize disruption within the assigned value stream.
  • Maintain accurate planning and item master data within JD Edwards or other ERP systems, including lead times, order policies, and supplier parameters.
  • Prepare and deliver reports related to material availability, shortages, supplier performance, and risk exposure.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to support decision‑making and communicate insights across plant locations to ensure supply continuity.
  • Maintain a high level of organization across all daily activities, including documentation of communications, order status, and planning decisions.
  • Ensure all supply plans and orders are documented clearly to allow continuity and follow‑up during absence.
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety rules, procedures, and ethics standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply planning, materials planning, production control, inventory management, or related roles within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing long lead‑time or constrained materials in a complex supply environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong working knowledge of JD Edwards or comparable ERP systems for planning, order management, and inventory control.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable supply decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with sound independent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to convey sensitive or high‑risk information clearly and tactfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and disciplined in execution.
  • Professional, customer‑focused approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.
