Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT OFFICER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2108P01 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT OFFICER (TITLE 32), GS-2003-13, you will serve as the Commander of the SCOS. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Direct/develop the division's primary mission goals/objectives. Head a division responsible for ensuring subordinate supervisors meet their organization goals and objectives. Plan, organize, and oversee the activities of the squadrons. Direct and advise on policy, training, and procedures that relate to division functions within the enterprise supply chain operations. Develop goals and objectives that integrate organization and global supply programs objectives. Establish, revise, or review policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff, as necessary to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements. Plan work for accomplishment by subordinate units, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules based on consideration of difficulty of requirements and assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of the staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Review and structure organization to optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advise staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.

Qualifications: AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), the only area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. Military Grades: Required Rank of O5 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 Level. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-12: experience supervising and/or managing supply personnel and a variety of supply functions; knowledge on the entire inventory management supply system: experience coordinating with other organizations on complex and controversial supply issues: experience providing advice and guidance on supply regulations to upper levels of management regarding supply functions. SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized supervisory experience which includes experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
