Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Manager or Director, Supply Chain, the incumbent serves as the first-level supervisory support to the assigned site. This role emphasizes operational workflow, staff resource management, departmental operational improvement, and supply expense cost and savings management. The incumbent builds and maintains strong relationships with peer department heads and administrative leadership teams, represents Supply Chain on committees and in meetings, supports conversion efforts, and conducts regular supply utilization analysis. The incumbent acts as the primary liaison for consolidated supply chain functions and holds supervisory responsibility for human resource management outcomes, staff productivity, and achieving Supply Chain measures of success related to spend, inventory, human resources, and customer satisfaction.


Essential Functions:

  • Supervises daily activities of the Supply Chain department or assigned work groups, including coordinating workflow and assisting with technician duties as needed.

  • Leads or participates in hospital- and department-level process improvement initiatives.

  • Ensures ongoing compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Performs regular supply utilization analysis and oversees stocking levels within scope of responsibility.

  • Assists the Manager/Director in meeting departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Actively participates in identifying cost-savings opportunities and developing implementation plans.

  • Drives contract compliance through direct engagement with physicians and key stakeholders and supports the Clinical Integration Program.

  • Fosters a customer service–focused environment and develops team members in customer-focused service delivery.

  • Promotes a collaborative culture between Supply Chain, Nursing, and Ancillary departments.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for consolidated Supply Chain services to ensure end-user needs are met and facilities comply with policies and procedures.

  • Manages timekeeping, labor applications, and work schedules to meet facility productivity metrics.

  • Supervises department personnel by minimizing staff turnover through engagement, staff rounding, and proactive response to employee needs and concerns.

  • Manages personnel conflicts and oversees continuing education and competency training plans.

  • Conducts regular workplace safety inspections and addresses identified concerns.

  • Investigates product recalls and removes affected supplies or equipment as necessary.

  • Leads annual physical inventory management activities.

  • Attends or leads meetings and committees in the absence of senior leadership, as required.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Healthcare Administration (Preferred)
     

Licensing & Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance (Warehouse positions only) (Required)

  • Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) (Preferred)

  • Order picker and/or forklift certification (Warehouse positions only) (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in supply chain operations or one (1) year of general management experience (Required)

  • Two (2) years of experience in medical supply chain management (Preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through periods of change and positively guide department performance

  • Objective decision-making skills supported by fact-based analysis

  • Cooperative management style that eliminates boundaries and promotes integrated, efficient, high-quality service

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage all levels of the organization
