Job Description

This position offers a salary range of $60,000–$70,000, with final compensation based on location, education, and experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reports to The University of Miami Hospital daily.
  • Establish relationships with both Operating Room and Distribution teams.
  • Work with the UM Operating Room to develop a long-term action plan for improvement.
  • Responsible for the health of the overall Supply Chain related to the Operating room.
  • Recommend improvements in storage, purchasing, utilization and systems.
  • Implement improvements to supply chain based on customers approval and assistance.
  • Utilized current O&M Services (PANDAC, SurgiTrack, QSight) to leverage savings opportunities.
  • Work closely with UM Teams and O&M teams to develop and implement opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Work closely with the distribution team to increase the throughput and overall efficiency to the Operating Room.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in healthcare or a related disciplinary area
  • CRCST or CST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician, Certified Surgical Technologist) certification preferred
  • 3 or more years of work experience in healthcare surgical services and/or logistics materials management and/or project management, required.
  • Previous experience in LEAN or project/organizational management methodology, preferred.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the above requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures
  • Knowledge of functionality of and the nuances between different brands of surgical devices
  • Knowledge of OR/surgical terminology
  • Knowledge of OR etiquette/processes
  • Knowledge of supplies and devices required to perform surgical procedures
  • While looking at the surgical schedule, must have the ability to translate the ‘scheduled’ procedure name into a ‘supply’ procedure name
  • Clear understanding of preference cards
  • Ability to work with clinical coordinators (i.e., service leaders) to specify supply and device requirements by surgical procedure and surgeon
  • Ability to learn/utilize appropriate systems (QSight, OMNI, OMDirect, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, hospital OR management systems)
  • Ability to discern errors within complex and detailed work
