Position Description:
The Supply Chain Planning Specialist will be a Planning/Scheduling team member, responsible for managing and optimizing production schedules to ensure timely product delivery, effective resource utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role involves collaboration with various departments to create an efficient Master Schedule that meets customer delivery requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Train with current planners to learn existing processes and support improvements to scheduling practices, while assisting and backfilling in the effective planning.
Support administrative tasks such as redating orders, processing cable remakes, and completing other planning‑related administrative duties as needed.
Work closely with fiber allocation/scheduling and the Fiber Room Team Lead to order, allocate, and monitor fiber inventory.
Prepare and distribute daily and monthly reports, including daily output, rework lists, late‑cable updates, and weekend planning notes.
Communicate backorder status to internal departments and maintain accurate tracking of all assigned backordered items.
Develop efficient production schedules and supply necessary information to product lines and production work centers.
Track demand, production, and inventory levels to recommend timely production adjustments and ensure customer demand is met.
Evaluate material, equipment, manpower, and container availability to identify and proactively address resource limitations.
Coordinate with planners on scheduling priorities, capacity limitations, and lead-time requirements.
Support the physical inventory process as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two or more years of production planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with spreadsheet software (Excel) .
At least one year of experience with an MRP/ERP system.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Ability to handle internal and external customers with tact and courtesy.
Ability to independently organize and prioritize work to meet objectives efficiently.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
Preferred:
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, SAP MM module and power BI.
Skills/Attributes:
Understanding of production line limitations for each product.
Demonstrated interest and involvement in continuous improvement.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to deal with internal and external customers (both higher and lower levels of organizations) with tact and courtesy.
Ability to anticipate problems and develop solutions/preventative actions.
Ability to independently plan and organize work.
