Role Purpose

The Production Planner is responsible for end‑to‑end production planning activities across the supply network, including demand and capacity management, plan governance, system parametrisation, and inventory control. The role partners closely with Production Scheduling, Production Planning, and cross‑site stakeholders to ensure a feasible and balanced supply plan aligned to service levels, safety stock policies, capacity plans, and identified constraints.

The role is accountable for delivering performance against defined planning metrics, operating in line with the global operating model, and contributing to continuous improvement through the IMEx framework in collaboration with the Team Lead and Global Process Owner.

Key Accountabilities

Production Planning

  • Review system alerts and threshold breaches, identify required plan changes, and prioritise orders in collaboration with the Production Scheduling team.

  • Attend Material Supply Tier 1 meetings, highlight urgent issues, and ensure appropriate escalation to Tier 2 governance.

  • Actively participate in cross‑site calls to flag demand signal concerns, identify network supply issues, propose plan adjustments, and ensure demand and supply alignment.

  • Handover orders to Production Scheduling, ensuring network material availability.

  • Lead weekly “handshake” meetings with Production Schedulers to align priorities and monitor schedule break‑ins.

Demand and Capacity Management

  • Support monthly demand change analysis by identifying significant shifts and evaluating impacts with the Planning Team Lead.

  • Liaise with upstream and downstream supplying sites to validate demand changes, identify root causes, and ensure system requirements remain current.

  • Model system demand gaps arising from source or network changes.

  • Work with network stakeholders to resolve demand signal issues and support scenario planning activities.

  • Manage resource capacity within planning systems to ensure a feasible plan and an accurate upstream demand signal.

  • Collaborate closely with Production Scheduling to resolve asset and capacity trade‑offs.

Plan Governance

  • Support allocation planning using BSL guidance and hand over to Scheduling teams during constrained supply situations.

  • Participate in weekly supply governance forums to address low stock risks and balance cost versus supply trade‑offs.

System Parameters and Metrics

  • Review, maintain, and update supply chain master data and planning system parameters.

  • Monitor key planning performance metrics (e.g. market coverage) and take corrective actions where required.

  • Escalate performance risks and gaps through established Tier governance structures.

Inventory Management (API / DP)

  • Ensure effective utilisation of network materials and minimise obsolescence through inventory ageing reviews.

  • Track, review, and communicate network inventory performance against target Months of Holding (MoH).

  • Monitor shelf‑life compliance and ensure adherence to RIDS avoidance processes.

  • Coordinate RIDS activities with site‑based MRB teams.
