Shell Chemicals and Products Refining is a vital segment of Shell's global operations, transforming crude oil and feedstocks into fuels, petrochemicals, and specialty chemicals, while continuously updating its portfolio to include sustainable chemicals made from bio-based and circular feedstocks to support low-carbon and sustainability goals.
The team manages approximately $600mln 3rd party spend through a robust supply chain infrastructure spanning multiple warehouses and suppliers across the world, in support of the 2 assets in Canada. The team ensures efficient delivery of services and products to the sites such as materials, equipment, maintenance services and project services, as well as warehousing and logistics solutions. All this in support of the Chemicals & Products focus areas of safety, reliability and commerciality, in which supply chain plays a crucial role.
Accountabilities
• This role will be supporting the Canada region (Scotford and Sarnia Assets) and the respective shift requirement is expected.
• Value Creation and Risk Management: Drives cost reduction and value improvement through supplier management, market insights, and sourcing strategies. Assesses market risks, ensures compliance, and implements mitigation strategies for supply chain continuity and business resilience.
• Supplier and Market Engagement: Profiles suppliers and assesses market conditions to enhance relationships and unlock competitive advantages. Uses data-driven approaches and strategic supplier management for optimized procurement outcomes and long-term partnerships.
• Strategic Collaboration: Aligns procurement strategies with business objectives by collaborating with Contract Holders and stakeholders. Ensures sourcing decisions are informed by demand, supply, and risk assessments, integrating best practices and driving consistency across operations.
• Category and Performance Management: Develops category strategies to maximize contract interlinkages, ensuring efficient resource deployment and reduced variability. Monitors supplier performance, fosters accountability, and aligns with contract objectives to deliver total business value. Focusing on Post Award Contract Management to drive supplier performance and performance culture.
• Sourcing and Contracting Process and Buying Channel Optimization: Ensures smooth execution of pre-award and post-award activities per the CMCP framework. Prioritizes efficient buying channels like GCC, SAPO, and Lean Sourcing, assessing demand patterns to select the most suitable channel for cost-effective procurement aligning them with the relevant delivery models (BU/Category) strategies.
• Demand Management, Supplier Readiness, and Risk Oversight: Optimizes demand and specifications to meet business needs, verifies supplier readiness for purchase orders, and monitors performance. Manages risks, ensures adherence with legal and Shell requirements, and addresses issues through escalation processes for seamless contract implementation and operational alignment.
Qualifications
• Sourcing Strategy Development: Develop and implement sourcing strategies during the pre-award phase, including commercial negotiations and structuring contracts to achieve objectives.
• Contract Management: Facilitate the source-to-contract process as per the CMCP Framework, oversee contract implementation, and manage contract performance.
• Strong Business Acumen and Commercial Delivery Experience: Demonstrated ability to deliver integrated value creation, execution excellence, and results.
• Front-Line Negotiation Experience: Proven expertise as a Supply Chain/Commercial professional with hands-on negotiation skills.
• Interpersonal and Stakeholder Management Skills: Strong ability to manage relationships at all levels in the organization and influence stakeholders.
• Learner Mindset and Agility: Open-minded, self-starter with leadership capabilities, adaptability, and a focus on change management.
• Performance and Risk Management Oversight: Assess contractor performance, implement controls and recovery measures, and drive continuous improvement in all practices (including key risks).
