How will you make an impact?
The Supplier Sustainability Specialist will be part of the Sustainability team focused on advancing responsible and resilient supply chains. This role will help drive adoption and awareness of global sustainability initiatives across the procurement and sourcing organizations. Initiatives will include scope 3 decarbonization, labor and human rights, responsible sourcing and emerging supply chain due diligence requirements. The role will collaborate cross-functionally to embed sustainability and responsible sourcing into procurement processes, risk assessments, and supplier decision making.
What will you do?
Engage suppliers, in collaboration with Procurement, to advance Thermo Fisher’s Supplier Responsibility expectations across environmental sustainability, decarbonization, ethical business practices, human rights, and responsible sourcing.
Communicate and educate suppliers on key sustainability and responsibility topics such as GHG emissions management, decarbonization strategies and due diligence requirements.
Support the development of supplier engagement resources, including decarbonization and responsible sourcing toolkits, training modules, playbooks, and FAQs.
Help coordinate supplier engagement forums such as webinars, capability-building workshops, and multi-stakeholder learning cohorts.
Support the collection, assessment, and validation of supplier data (e.g., emissions, ESG metrics, audit results, risk assessments) to ensure high-quality inputs for reporting, decision making, and regulatory compliance.
Track progress toward program objectives, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier sustainability performance, and overall supplier responsibility outcomes.
Support supplier adoption of digital platforms used for emissions data sharing, sustainability assessments, due diligence workflows, and responsible sourcing documentation.
Build capacity to independently plan, schedule, and manage supplier engagements—including meetings, assessments, and capability-building activities—tracking actions and outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
Partner with global procurement teams to establish and negotiate clear timelines, milestones, and corrective action plans to support supplier alignment with Thermo Fisher sustainable business requirements, policies and performance expectations.
Document supplier engagement notes, decisions, and maturity assessments to inform risk management, categorize supplier performance, and identify opportunities for targeted support.
Prepare reporting materials for internal stakeholders across Global Sustainability and Procurement.
Technical Responsibilities
Contributes updates to project plans; tracking key milestones, and timelines
Detects, calls out and facilitates issue resolution and/or appropriate partner concern and address program risk
Identifies opportunities to drive continuous improvement
Supports data analysis to drive action against objectives
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Smartsheet and Excel
How will you get here?
Bachelors degree required. Engineering, Business, Analytics, or Environmental Sciences preferred
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Procurement, supply chain and/or program management experience preferred
Background in life sciences, BioTech, pharma, manufacturing industry, and/or sustainability consulting preferred
Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of corporate environmental sustainability
Well-developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with an ability to tailor data-heavy messages to specific audiences, both internal and external
Proven experience in a role requiring high-attention to detail, data analysis, and organization skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to efficiently coordinate communication with team members
Demonstrated ability to deliver assigned projects, with exemplary capability to follow-up and follow-through
Ability to work independently, within a team, and collaboratively across teams
Multi-tasking skills and planning for prioritizing personal workload
Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial
