Job Description

Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. this means the successful candidate to report to the GM office full time.

The Role:

The Supplier Quality Supervisor responsible for ensuring that suppliers consistently deliver parts, materials, and services that meet quality, safety, regulatory, and performance requirements. The role provides oversight, technical direction, performance management, and strategic improvement initiatives across the supplier base.

What You'll Do:

1. Incoming Supplier Quality Management

  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs (PPM, defect rates, SBR, QPR).

  • Review incoming quality concerns and ensure immediate containment at the plant.

  • Support sorting, rework, and controlled shipping activities (CS1/CS2).

2. Issue Resolution & Problem Solving

  • Manage supplier issues through systems like SPPS, PRTS, or equivalent.

  • Lead 8D investigations and ensure robust, permanent corrective actions.

  • Validate root-cause analysis using 5 Why, Ishikawa, and other tools.

  • Follow up on corrective action implementation and effectiveness verification.

3. Supplier Development & Process Improvement

  • Perform supplier process audits (e.g., VDA 6.3, LPA, QMS audits).

  • Identify process gaps and drive supplier improvement initiatives.

  • Provide technical coaching to suppliers on quality systems and manufacturing processes.

4. APQP & New Model Launch Support

  • Manage APQP deliverables for assigned suppliers from concept to PPAP.

  • Review and approve:

  • Control Plans

  • PFMEA/DFMEA

  • Process Flow Diagrams

  • Capability Studies (Cp/Cpk)

  • MSA

  • Conduct supplier readiness assessments before MRD/PPV builds.

  • Support on‑site build events and resolve supplier-related disruptions.

5. PPAP Submission & Approval

  • Evaluate and approve PPAP submissions according to AIAG requirements.

  • Verify dimensional reports, material certifications, testing results, process capability.

  • Ensure production processes are stable, capable, and documented.

6. Supplier Change Management

  • Review and approve Supplier Change Requests (SCRs/PCNs).

  • Validate process changes, tooling moves, line changes, or material changes.

  • Conduct risk assessments and coordinate requalification activities.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, STA, and purchasing to resolve supplier issues.

  • Participate in sourcing decisions based on supplier quality performance and risk.

  • Support warranty, field issues, and returned parts analysis when related to suppliers.

8. New launches

  • Ensure new Program Flawless Launch Execution (PPV, MVBns, MVBs, SORP, STC).

  • Support Sourcing activities.

  • Develop new Suppliers to GM Bid List.

Your Skills & Abilities ( Required Qualification )

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or any related engineering fields.

Experience

  • 5 ~ 8 Years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or process engineering.

  • Automotive or high-volume production experience preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans.

  • Familiar with IATF 16949, ISO 9001.

  • Proficient in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving (8D, DMAIC).

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, stamping, plastics, electronics).

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Analytical, data-driven thinking.

  • High sense of urgency with strong ownership.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence suppliers.
