Job Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for assuring quality of supplied goods in serial production. This role involves working closely with suppliers to address issues, organize containments, assure proper Problem Solving, collect charge backs and develop and implement quality assurance processes.

 


Characterization of activities

Follow up on incidents with suppliers: Ensure thorough investigation of quality incidents, validate corrective actions, and confirm implementation to prevent recurrence.

Organize containment actions with suppliers: Implement immediate measures to isolate nonconforming materials, coordinate with suppliers for corrective actions, and minimize impact on production.

Assure proper problem-solving at supplier level: Apply structured methodologies such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and FMEA to resolve recurring issues and prevent reoccurrence.

Resolve complex supplier-related issues: Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and logistics teams to manage escalated quality concerns and ensure timely resolution.

Perform detailed root cause investigations at supplier sites: Analyze data, review processes, and validate corrective actions to ensure long-term effectiveness and compliance.

Address supplier quality issues proactively: Monitor incidents and supplier processes to identify deviations early, initiate corrective actions, and ensure compliance with agreed standards.

Collect chargebacks and manage cost recovery from suppliers: Track and document quality-related costs, negotiate reimbursement, and maintain transparency in financial accountability.

Drive supplier quality performance: Establish KPIs, monitor trends, and enforce inspection plans and control systems to prevent nonconforming materials from suppliers.

Report and communicate supplier quality performance: Prepare detailed reports for management, highlight trends, and recommend strategic actions to improve overall supplier quality metrics.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Quality Engineering (or 10+ years of relevant experience in Automotive/Supplier Quality)

  • Green belt certification

  • Must have - demonstrated experience completing in 8Ds, Fishbone, 5 Whys and other problem-solving tools

  • Must have - demonstrated experience in the Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA)

  • Understanding of the IATF 16949:2016, preferably as an internal auditor.

  • Self-motivated and team-work spirit

  • Confident and willing to deal with problems and new tasks

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken in the English.

  • Candidate must already reside in the Netherlands and have a valid work permit.

  • This position requires at least 4 days a week on location in Barneveld.

  • Full-time employment of 40 hours per week.

  • Travel allowance home-work: 23ct per kilometers one way up to a maximum of 50 km
