Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Supply Quality Engineer will be based in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Supplier Quality Engineering Manager. The Supply Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier development in a manufacturing floor service process; works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:
- Supplier Selection---Select the suitable supplier with jointed-effort of sourcing on aspects of quality, capability, pricing, pricing, delivery, environment, society regulation, etc. against customer requirements.
- Supplier Qualification---Implement the new supplier qualification through the process of matching capability, supplier risk assessment, supplier self-assessment, onsite qualification audit, qualification database management.
- Failure analysis and non-conforming Material management
- VEA (Value-Added Engineering Activity) ---Understand customer drawing, specification to feedback value-added engineering proposal to customer and supplier for optimization of supplier manufacturing process or products.
- Material (Component) Qualification---Implement PPAP (FAI). PPAP includes FAI, Material Certificates, Quality/Process Control Plan, FMEA, MSA, Process Parameter Sheet, RoHS compliance, Reliability Test, COC, etc.
- Track the new qualified parts quality performance to ensure to meet the customer quality requirements in pilot run phase. Drive supplier corrective action from supplier in Pilot Runs (1-3 lots) and smoothly transfer the pilot run to mass production.
- Work as SME (Subject Matter Expert) to help on supplier quality hot issue and trouble shooting.
- Holds up Supplier CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) --- Helps supplier to use the quality tools to improve manufacturing process and product quality.
- Has knowledge of a company's manufacturing process, applications and process development to intently work with suppliers in improving quality components of goods and services.
- Performs quality audits on suppliers to assure products and services meet International Organization for Standards (ISO) and regulatory standards.
- Provides cross-functional help to select, approve and develop suppliers to meet customer and business needs.
- Ensures supplier selection, development, approval and rejection according to SJM vendor guidelines and requirements.
- Drives full assessment for effectiveness of supplier process control plans, measures and activities.
- Develops and implements procedures for new and/or improved supplier processes.
- Provides engineering help to Receiving Inspection including statistical research, measurement systems exploring, Gage R&R studies and inspection procedures.
- Participates in Material Review Board resolutions on supplier provided parts and services
- Performs supplier Quality System audits, corrective and preventive actions with suppliers, researches of non-conformances and supplier performance for key performance indicators.
- Guides teams in identification of risks/hazards relative to new product designs, processes, suppliers and applications.
- Rate and track supplier’s performance and drive supplier continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain supplier management processes and tools.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- 6 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related field.
- Manufacturing floor experience required
- ISO 9000 / AS 9100
- Experience in Metrology (Preferred)
- Sig Sigma or Lean Certification (Green or Black belt)Advanced Mathematical Proficiency: Skilled in applying complex mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations, frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Technical Interpretation & Problem Solving: Capable of interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and managing abstract and concrete variables to resolve quality-related challenges.
- Tool Utilization Across Domains: Proficient in using a wide range of tools including electronic assembly (schematics, PCB operations), testing equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer), inspection tools (microscope, measuring instruments), and mechanical/electrical tools (taps, dies, alignment tools), along with office software for documentation and reporting.
- Functional Expertise & Process Oversight: Demonstrates advanced technical skills, thorough understanding of company standards and procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot, oversee test processes, and train others effectively.
