Job Summary
Acts as an active member of the practice management team to support the care management model, standards of pediatric clinical practice, legal regulations, Code of Ethics and established policies of the Ophthalmology Practice. Supervises assigned clinic staff. Partners with Ambulatory Manager on business and financial operations.
Essential Functions
- Monitors and evaluates clinic operations to ensure efficiency including, but not limited to scheduling, billing, patient records, telecommunications, patient referrals, MyChart, etc. Initiates clinical and operation improvement opportunities.
- Ensures effective communication of information between Ambulatory Specialty Care and clinic staff.
- Writes performance appraisals. Works with Ambulatory Manager to effectively provide performance feedback to professional and technical staff on an ongoing basis to achieve staff development and staff satisfaction.
- Coordinates the scheduling of work, vacations, etc. for all technicians to assure that patient care and clinic duties are completed to maintain an orderly and efficiently run office routine. Reviews ATS for verification of hours worked.
- Works collaboratively with physicians to implement improvements within the practice to ensure a high caliber of patient care and services.
- Contributes to developing and attaining long range objectives for the service including, but not limited to financial goals, operations improvement, quality improvement, resource utilization and clinical practice enhancements.
- Recruits, hires, trains and develops technician staff, in conjunction with Human Resources Consultant and Ambulatory Manager. Provides and creates an awareness of professional activities available for staff development.
- Participates in the preparation of detailed operating budget projections for staff, supplies and equipment. Participates in the analysis of financial data to determine problem areas, potential savings and ways to reduce operating costs and maximizing charge capture.
- Participates in the development of business plans and goals.
- Initiates patient experience improvements. Contributes to the development and implementation of action plans for improvement.

Experience
- 2+ years experience in ophthalmology required
- 1+ years relevant leadership experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Requires analytical and decision making skills necessary to resolve employee and operational problems.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, clinic/hospital staff and community.
- Ability to stand and walk approximately 75% of the work time.
Patient Care Responsibility
- Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
