Major Duties:

  • This position is located at Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Office of Analytics. As a Supervisory Statistician (Data Scientist), you will: Develop and apply statistical methods to identify, collect, process, and analyze large volumes of data to build and enhance products, processes, and systems. Apply statistical and mathematical analysis to identify trends, solve analytics problems, optimize performance and processes, and gather intelligence. This includes evaluating opportunities to use machine learning and AI-enabled analytical methods. Lead communication and collaboration with TTB (in various levels of the organization) to analyze and scope the technical and policy requirements needed to implement analytics projects.

Qualifications: You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Conducting analytical studies and research projects using statistical, scientific, or machine learning methods, including designing or evaluating Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled analytical approaches; AND - Defining technical requirements and establishing methodological frameworks for analytical initiatives and AI prototyping efforts; AND - Developing and implementing data driven solutions and leading or contributing to the development, testing, and deployment of AI models, prototypes, and tools to support organizational decision-making and operational efficiency.
