You may also view the full position description on the Agency intranet at the following link: PD Search Incumbent will serve as a Director in either Disability Quality Review or Payment Quality Review and Stewardship. Incumbent will be responsible and accountable for providing leadership to the development, implementation, direction and coordination of the quality assurance (QA) programs.

Major Duties:

  • Directs the planning, development and interpretation of goals, objectives, standards and operating policies and procedures governing the conduct of the program for QA of the preclaims (enumeration and earnings), 800 number, PE,...
  • [cont.] customer satisfaction, notice, payment and adjudication processes for the SSI, RSI and DI Programs. Develops workplans, sets priorities, assigns projects and plans schedules or timeframes for completion.
  • Assesses work performance and identifies developmental and training needs.
  • Plans necessary training and development.
  • Directs a variety of special studies, surveys and projects to identify improvements in SSA program quality, policy and procedures, both nationally and in the region.
  • Furnishes advice and counsel to the Associate Commissioner (AC) on a range of program-related issues and problems, including serving, as needed, in sensitive and/or complex negotiations or discussions of a technically involved nature
  • Plans measures to assure the ongoing collection and processing of all necessary quality assurance and management data.
  • Collaborates with other managers within the region and in other segments of SSA to negotiate and/or coordinate work-related changes impacting other organizations.
  • Advises higher echelons of the status of the work assigned, how it relates to the overall mission and what impact or conflicts exist.

Qualifications: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-14 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include: Comprehensive knowledge of the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement or survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension programs, health insurance, income maintenance, or related programs; AND Experience performing, supervising or managing work concerned with these programs and their delivery to the public. Such experience may include (1) studying operations, case processing, systems operations, methods and procedures to improve the operation and delivery of programs; (2) interpreting program requirements and formulating policies, procedures, methods, work aids, technical guides and other reference material for program operations.
