Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Beale Pools, Beale AFB, CA. You will be scheduled to work anywhere from 0-40 hours per week; hours are not guaranteed. This position does not receive benefits.

Major Duties:

  • The listed tasks are essential for this position and may include, but are not limited to the following: test, assign, train and supervise other seasonal aquatics personnel, ensure that safety rules, regulations, and policies are followed; plan, organize, market, and implement pool programs to meet the needs of the community; evaluate staff and the effectiveness of the pool programs; and ensure efficient management and professional practices at the aquatic facility. Promote, develop, supervise and register the instructional swimming programs. Direct the work of guards and instructors in carrying out safety requirements, lesson instruction and the cleaning of the swimming area and dressing room areas. Assist in ordering supplies, make daily cash reports, audit daily attendance, keep records of all transactions for auditing purposes and assist with maintaining budget by controlling staff time and other operating costs. Rescue swimmers, administer first aid, and serve as a lifeguard/instructor. Facilitate and conduct weekly work outs/in-service training. Responsible for providing information pertaining to water quality, temperature, and other related items to the Community Services Office and the public. Establish and promote effective community relations with the public. Plan, organize and implement aquatics activities including swimming lessons, open swimming and aerobics. Qualifying Experience: Demonstrate responsible experience in the development, implementation, management and supervision of a swim instruction program including knowledge of first aid, water rescues, CPR, and training methods. Requires the ability to supervise others, maintain records, and prepare and give accurate reports. Displays understanding of all necessary swimming strokes and ability to teach them. Ability to take control of emergency situations. Display ability to effectively, analyze situations and make sound decisions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.
