Salary Range: $152963 - $197200 Per Year

Job Summary: As a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, SuitEA Policy, Reform, Training, & Oversight, you will lead government-wide suitability personnel vetting policy, oversee program performance, and direct training and stakeholder engagement efforts to ensure effective, compliant, and modernized vetting practices.

Major Duties:

  • Leads and oversees development, implementation, and revision of government-wide personnel vetting policies, including suitability, fitness, and credentialing programs. Directs a division responsible for policy, training, and oversight, ensuring agencies comply with Executive Orders, laws, and OPM guidance. Analyzes agency performance data to evaluate effectiveness of vetting programs and recommends improvements to policies, processes, and best practices. Provides executive-level advisory services on sensitive suitability and personnel vetting issues impacting government-wide operations. Develops and delivers government-wide training and stakeholder engagement initiatives related to personnel vetting. Manages delegation of OPM authorities to agencies and ensures compliance with established vetting standards and oversight requirements. Supervises staff, sets organizational goals, allocates resources, and ensures effective program execution and continuous improvement.

Qualifications: For the GS 15: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service (or equivalent) performing ALL of the following: 1) Developing or implementing personnel vetting policies and/or regulations; AND 2) Analyzing training needs to provide administrative direction for training offerings; AND 3) Evaluating program performance data to recommend improvements to policies, processes, or government-wide standards; AND 4) Providing senior-level advisory services on suitability, credentialing, or personnel vetting issues, including interpreting laws, regulations, and Executive Orders. Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-14 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS15 level. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
