Job Summary: As the Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist in the Intake Branch, Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Security and Emergency Planning Staff (SEPS), Personnel Security Group (PERSG). PERSG assesses the reliability, loyalty, suitability, and trustworthiness of those persons who have access to all types of Department information, resources, and material that could adversely affect the national security, the public welfare, or the efficiency of the Federal service.

Major Duties:

  • The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, GS-0080-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: * Administering and managing all personnel security functions in support of on-boarding Magistrate Judges, Article I judges, Clerks of Court, Law Clerks, Federal Public Defenders, other judicial staff for the Judicial Branch within the Litigation Security Group for the Department. * Initiating and processing background investigations through the electronic application for investigations processing (eAPP) system, ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to submission to Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). * Assists the Classified Security Officers (CISO) whose mission is to prevent the unauthorized disclosure of classified information in the judicial process nationwide. * Prepares and coordinates official correspondence for information. * Maintains personnel security policies and procedures, including Continuous Vetting requirements under the Trusted Workforce 2.0 framework, to ensure compliance with evolving federal standards.

Qualifications: To qualify for the position of Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, at GS-0080-14you must meet the specialized experience requirements listed below. For the GS-14, one year of specialized experience to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as utilizing an automated database to enter information initiate and adjudicate background investigations; and evaluate results of background investigations relating to suitability, security, waivers, and/or preemployment screening requirements. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the 05/20/2026 of this announcement.
