Major Duties:

  • You will develop goals and objectives that integrate department and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard objectives.
  • You will direct the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of the shipyard's server and storage infrastructure, encompassing physical, virtual, and cloud environments across both classified and unclassified networks.
  • You will provide technical guidance for issues related to server hardware, operating systems, storage solutions, and database performance.
  • You will ensure the high availability, reliability, and peak performance of critical applications that directly support the shipyard’s core production and operational missions.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience determining workload prioritization and scheduling and provides technical oversight on branch projects. Experience ensuring the rigorous application of information security and information assurance policies, principles and practices in the delivery of all IT systems and IT capabilities. Experience coordinating required actions for implementing IT initiatives to improve command and customer capabilities. Experience providing technical direction, training, and information, checks quality of work; and determines progress of projects and tasks toward completion and meeting objectives. Experience providing knowledge of state-of-the-art development techniques, productivity improvement tools, user friendly software, application and report generator programs, utility software, data base management systems and equipment technology to identify methods and software that are potentially applicable to the desired management objectives. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
