Job Summary: About the Position: Serves as Division Chief for either the Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) located in Alexandria, VA or Cold Region Research Laboratory (CRREL) located in Hanover, NH. This position is being filled as a Supervisory Interdisciplinary DB-05 (GS-15), which may be filled under any of the listed Job Family series. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation to recruit and appointment qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as the Division Chief under the Laboratory Director for either the Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) or Cold Region Research Laboratory (CRREL).
  • Manages research, development, and investigation activities in support of Federal and Non-Federal agencies.
  • Directs research and development programs in core competencies for mission areas related to the specific lab.
  • Ensures technical quality of research performed is delivered on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Approves multi-year and longer-range work plans developed by the subordinate supervisors and manages the overall work for achievement of the goals and objectives.
  • Serves as final authority for the full range of personnel and organizational proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors within the Division.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-05 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion.
