Job Summary: The position serves as a Supervisory Facility Ambassador for the Atlanta VA Health Care System in the Experience Department. The employee will serve as the supervisor for a robust team of Information Receptionists and Compensated Work Therapy patients. The supervisor serves as the ambassador program coordinator and is administratively responsible for and has oversight of all Information Receptionists and Compensated Work Therapy patients assigned to the Ambassador Program.

Major Duties:

  • Major duties include but are not limited to: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, and prepares schedules for completion of work Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selectively considering the difficulty and requirements of assignments and the capabilities of employees Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees regarding work and administrative matters Identifies developmental, training, and education needs of the workforce, and providing or arranging for needed development and training Serves as the program coordinator and is administratively responsible and has oversight of the Ambassador Services Program Responsible for planning and organizing the program, coordinating with the staff and management personnel, and conducting all phases of the program requirements Uses sound judgement in the interpretation of trends and patterns, the application of guidelines, and the recommendation of program enhancements Responsible for all technical determinations arising from work with little technical advice or assistance Responsible for developing policies and procedures for program operations and preparing reports and recommendations for the facility Performs other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/12/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a 06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the 05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade 06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Ensures proper employee training and onboarding, personnel matters, performance evaluations, approving leave and certifying time, and managing service's equipment and inventory listing; Possession of advanced practice skills and judgement, and a strong background in the evaluation and coordination of care pertaining to patient hospitality services; Administers information and analytical systems to evaluate, coordinate, and enhance the quality of services provided to Veterans, visitors and employees requiring assistance with accessing health care received at the Health Care System and satellite clinics. Preferred Experience: 2 years as Information Receptionist/Ambassador You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production. Leadership: Inspires, motivates and guides others toward goal accomplishment; coaches, mentors, and challenges subordinates; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations; models high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, openness, and respect for the individual by applying these values to daily behaviors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: This position requires significant amount of physical activity, primarily walking throughout the facility the majority of the day.
