Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Material Management, Long Lead time Material (LLM), Obsolescence and Rotatable Pools (N772B), Advance Planning/ Requirements (N772), Maintenance Engineering Planning Program (MEPP) Division (N77), of the Engineering Department (N7), in the Military Sealift Command (MSC), located at Norfolk, VA of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for the technical aspects of Material Management, Long Lead time Material (LLM), Obsolescence and Rotatable Pools.
  • You will be responsible for directing personnel, defining and executing technical policy and maintenance management of ready-for-issue (RFI) spares.
  • You will ensure that Shore Based Spares used for U.S. Naval platforms maintain the highest possible Operational Availability by ensuring Ready for Issue assets are available.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining available commercial off the-shelf (COTS) material inventories from OEM suppliers to end-users.
  • You will support the development of technical policy for systems and hull for plans for available SBS for all MSC ships.
  • You will provide a full range of supervision to assigned engineers, naval architects, and electrical engineers as the Material Management Branch Head.

Qualifications: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, managing, and coordinating with life cycle stakeholders to manage ready for issue (RFI) material required to execute technical requirements, forecasted time and condition-based maintenance, approved or planned alterations and work items associated required for a ship's life cycle from delivery to disposal. Experience supporting maintenance material management for design work related to ship systems operations, alterations, modifications and installations in collaboration with sponsors, program managers, private shipyards, and support contractors such as naval architectural and marine engineering firms to support operational readiness. Experience conducting review of life cycle assessments for data driven recommendations for changes in vessel or industrial maintenance and repair requirements. Experience identifying gaps in maintenance requirements which impact shore-based spares material condition and the ability to achieve the required material availability and meet expected service life and direct subordinates accordingly. Experience directing the evaluation of modifications to existing ships, determining the suitability, feasibility, and reasonableness of modifications required to accommodate new missions or capabilities, improving operational availability or meet expected service life and incorporated into the vessel's material management plan for the purpose of POM.
