Job Summary: Responsible for Civil law policies, procedures and practices which facilitate the accomplishment of the 78th Air Base Wing's mission. Senior advisor to management officials, Command and members of staff on all matters involving compliance with statutes, executive orders, directives, and policy governing. Incumbent supervises all attorney, paralegal and clerical personnel in the Civil law Division
Major Duties:
Qualifications: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: You MUST have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD). In addition, at the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application, of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia. Bar Membership: Active membership in good standing in the Bar or highest court of a state, or U.S. territory, U.S. commonwealth or District of Columbia; never been disciplined, sanctioned, or had fitness to practice law challenged by any bar or court or a state or territory of the U.S. or District of Columbia (Failure to provide documentation of bar membership and good standing will result in an ineligible rating.) Professional Experience: You must have professional experience in excess of three (3) years commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of and ability to interpret laws, regulations, precedents and procedures related to Federal Government Civil Law/General Law matters Ability to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and review the efforts of a small to medium sized organization of general law attorneys and support personnel Skill in representing and advocating for the Air Force with Congressional delegates and other personnel at all levels of the Federal, State, and Local Government Ability to recognize and appropriately handles issues of precedent-setting nature, sensitivity, or importance to agency goals, national and international security, or high public interest Effective oral communications and skill in writing sound and persuasive memoranda, briefs, reports, plans, and pleadings.
