Job Summary: The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: Qualifications: Minimum Educational Requirements Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field Preferred Education Bachelors degree in ECE or closely related field If the field is unrelated, must have 36 or more higher education credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or special education 12-35 higher education credits in: Child education Child development Elementary education Childhood special education Experience Minimum of 5 years experience with at least 2 being in a lead teacher role Experience in a NAEYC- accredited facility required Proven ability to: Lead and mentor staff Manage classroom operations and schedules Communicate effectively with parents and/or guardians Handle conflict resolution and behavioral challenges Knowledge, Skill, and Ability (KSA) and Competency Requirements: Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Ability to generate unusual or clever ideas to solve various problems and remain flexible. Knowledge of resource management principles. Ability to organize and maintain file and inventory systems in order to support and maintain administrative processes. Knowledge of allergies and dietary restrictions. Knowledge of health and safety laws, regulations, policies, and standards. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact, as well as the ability to exercise judgement and discretion. Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions/changes. Knowledge of and ability to use various automated systems, such as Microsoft Office tools, computers, mobile devices, phone systems, etc. Posesses the ability to actively listen to stakeholder problems in order to identify problems and solutions. Possesses skills in complex decision making to evaluate options and implement solutions Possesses skills in instructing and teaching others how to complete tasks. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: This position is in a school setting that is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Normal safety precautions apply. The work involves light physical activity and may include moderate physical activity, such as moving furniture and equipment, lifting and moving children, pushing cribs/carts/strollers, and participating in planned physical exercises with children (e.g., jumping, dancing, running). The incumbent must be able to meet minimum physical requirements and work environment demands. Specifically: • Ability to tend to multiple children within ratio constraints, maintaining constant sight and sound supervision. • The ability to lift and transport children for diapering, comforting, feeding, or assisting in their mobility. • Ability to engage with children on their level, including bending, kneeling, or sitting on the floor, or using alternative methods to ensure meaningful interaction. • Ability to monitor children and ensure their safety inside and while outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold temperatures and direct sunlight. • Ability to remain stationary and respond promptly to ensure child safety. • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in safety, health, sanitization, and allergy management to ensure the safety of all children and staff. • Ability to acquire and maintain certifications, as well as perform the following activities within 30 days of hire date: Infant/Child/Adult CPR and First Aid Certification. • Ability to successfully complete a physical exam and tuberculosis test (at the incumbent’s expense) prior to employment and annually thereafter (current documentation may not be older than 12 months). • Ability to push cribs, strollers, or move children in emergency evacuation practices and situations. Security Requirements: • Must successfully complete a criminal history records check. • Employee may be subject to drug testing in accordance with the CAO Drug Free Workplace Plan. • Must successfully complete a Public Trust investigation with a Child Registry check. Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only)
