SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC)

Salary Range: $70257 - $100344 Per Year

Job Summary: You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter (Paramedic) of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.

Major Duties:

  • You will direct the placement of firefighting equipment to ensure maximum utilization in fire control, aircraft crash, or rescue operations.
  • You will operate emergency vehicles equipped with specialized features (e.g., power levers, buttons, pedals) to control the equipment.
  • You will determine if and how a patient can be moved to a medical facility and by what means of transportation for the patient to get immediate medical assistance.
  • You will prioritize emergency treatment of patients suffering from multiple traumas to stabilize the patient and increase their chance of survival
  • You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Applying advanced levels of emergency medical techniques, including advanced patient assessment and treatment, advanced airway techniques, invasive medical procedures, calculate patient medical dosages; ability to determine patient method for transport to a medical facility. 2. Interpreting concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; methodologies, strategies, and equipment used in prescribed fires; fire detection, prevention, and suppression strategies; knowledge of and ability to apply firefighting techniques in hazardous environments. 3. Responding to releases or potential releases of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release using specialized protective clothing and control equipment. This includes approaching the point of release to plug, patch, or otherwise stop the release of a hazardous substance. 4. Conveys written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Expresses thoughts persuasively and uses effective modes to reinforce message retention. 5. Demonstrates ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. Makes clear and convincing oral presentations. Listens effectively; clarifies information as needed. Certifications Required: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Airport Firefighter, NREMT-P and HAZMAT Incident Commander.
