Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER of NAS KINGSVILLE TX.

Major Duties:

  • You will promote understanding of and support for management's policies and objectives.
  • You will develop and maintain a variety of documentation such as fire prevention inspections schedules and facilities files on assigned facilities.
  • You will conduct fire protection and preventions education, and training as required.
  • You will effectively address employee suggestions, complaints, grievances, and other day-to-day administrative matters.
  • You will combat fire on board large ships (i.e., destroyers, cargo ships, submarines, aircraft carriers).

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized Experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action;2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques;3) Providing emergency medical care at the basic life support level in accordance with safety standards and regulations;4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires;5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc.)**NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume.** Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0000/fire-protection-and-prevention-series-0081/ Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
