Job Summary: You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DIVISION of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Major Duties:

  • You will assist the Fire Chief in developing policies and guidance for an installation fire and emergency services program.
  • You will serve as the incident commander assuming full responsibility for instructions, techniques and strategies for the implementation of fire suppression, firefighting and other related emergency response situations.
  • You will oversee the Battalion Chiefs development of junior firefighter, employee's annual goals and objectives in performance review.
  • You will act as a liaison with other agencies to establish, modify and oversee all Mutual Aid Agreements dealing with Emergency response capabilities.

Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advising the command and senior leadership on fire protection and related emergency response activities; 2) Providing assistance, advice, and recommendations concerning fire protection/prevention for a fire suppression program; 3) Reviewing reports and procedures to make suggestions on improvements to firefighting techniques and /or policies; 4) Assisting the Fire Chief in determining long and short-range requirements for resources (i.e. manpower, equipment, facilities, contract services, and staff support) to meet customer needs. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-12: Fire Officer I, II, & III, Fire Instructor I & II, Fire Inspector I & II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Technician, and HAZMAT Incident Commander. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
