Job Summary: The role of Supervisory Dietitians (Informatics) in Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) involves overseeing the Nutrition Communication Center (NCC) and supervising staff. They represent the NCC in various projects and provide leadership and personnel management to employees at GS-6 or below. With expertise in nutrition informatics and food service technology, they work independently to plan and implement technological advancements to benefit Veterans and staff.

Qualifications: Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Dietitian candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) - Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements. Grade Determinations: GS-11, Supervisory Dietitian (Informatics) Experience Requirement: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, you must possess at least 1 year of experience as an RDN/RD equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09), which demonstrates the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in managing computer software programs relative to food service systems. Skill in applying nutritional knowledge to develop menus ensuring nutritional standards are met. Skill in developing training and reference materials. Skill in evaluating data to improve outcomes. Skill in providing training related to food service systems technology. Skill in collaborating with stakeholders. Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance). Preferred Experience: Served as an Informatics Dietitian, tasked with complex responsibilities in Food Service Technology. Key duties included managing software, creating and revising menus, ensuring dietary compliance, and standardizing recipes within budget. Developed educational materials, reviewed productivity reports, and trained employees.
