Job Description:

Provides daily security operations support. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with site leadership. Develops, operates and maintains staffing plans and critical staffing deployment models. Defines expectations and priorities for the team. Provides direct supervision of security officers to include hiring and onboarding, training and development and performance management. Oversees and monitors services, performance, and productivity levels. Reinforces continuous improvement disciplines and methods. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, analyzes issues and makes informed recommendations to security and site leadership. Participates in incident command structure during major events.
Principle Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operation of department functions.
    • Assists with individual and team goals.
    • Assists with department strategy and business engagement.
    • Monitors staff and department performance and productivity levels and proposes ways to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
    • Analyzes and identifies problem areas and adjusts processes and staffing priorities.
    • Serves as primary project lead on operations and/or business unit initiatives or programs.
    • Responds to emergency calls.
    • Participates in incident command structure during major events.
    • May assist operations manager in creating the proposed annual budget.
    • Serves as a liaison and department representative for the organization.
    • Reports out at safety huddles, leads roll calls and responds to calls as necessary.
    • Ensures security incidents are escalated and reported appropriately following standard work and policy.
  • Manages employees and staffing of the department.
    • Oversees and has responsibility for department employees to include hiring and onboarding, training and development, annual performance reviews and management.
    • Analyzes performance metrics to locate and resolve issues and trends.
    • Monitors reports to include shift logs and daily reports.
    • Ensures department is adhering to policy and procedures and meeting regulatory compliance.
    • Oversees and supports site education, training and drills.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Psychology, Sociology or relevant field within 36 months of hire
  • 3 years in progressive leadership in a security, emergency services, military, law enforcement, healthcare or relevant field
  • 2 years in direct leadership of people


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year in regulatory compliance related to healthcare security and emergency management
  • 1 year in customer service


Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support Multisource - American Heart Association or Allina required; will be enrolled in first available class if not certified at time of hire
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
  • International Association for Hospital Safety and Security (IAHSS) preferred
  • OSHA First Responder preferred
  • Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) preferred


Physical Demands

  • Light Work:
  • Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $33.49 to $45.90 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
