Supervisor - SALT Transformation Tax and Automation

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent client sales and use tax automation, implementation, advisory and planning services to multi-state companies - approximately 80% of your time 

  • Working in a team environment on managing and facilitating the following types of Transaction Tax Automation implementation and consulting projects: Vertex O Series, Thomson Reuters OneSource Indirect Tax Determination, Avalara AvaTax and related modules, e-commerce based integrations, various ERP’s including but not limited to Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, MS D365 F&S and CE, Business Central, NetSuite OneWorld & SuiteTax, QuickBooks, Workday, Zuora, e-commerce and POS systems for both US S&U Tax and VAT 

  • Drive growth and profitability of State and Local tax practice by generating new revenue on existing client portfolio, cross selling and new clients for the tax practice - approximately 10% of your time 

  • Serve as a Career Advisor, mentor or coach to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback – approximately 10% of your time 

  • Ability to integrate with clients and prospects, local and regional RSM SALT teams, the overall RSM Transaction Tax Automation team, and RSM Business Application, Technology Consulting and Management Consulting colleagues 

  • Lead and manage the business relationship of complex engagements with a focus on high-value, quality tax advice and seek to expand S&U Tax services to clients 

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell various SALT opportunities 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited college or university 

  • CPA or working towards a CPA or CMI designation 

  • Requires five plus (5+) years of experience providing sales and use tax automation implementation and sales and use tax related consulting services in a public accounting, consulting or law firm 

  • Possess thorough knowledge of a variety of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, reverse audits and state controversy work 

  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 

  • Project management and critical thinking skills 

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments 

  • Working knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx and or Automation Anywhere a plus 

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $91,200 - $172,200

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
