Under the direction of the Retail Assistant Manager, the Retail Supervisor is an outgoing, motivational leader with the ability to influence a team with integrity. Leads change while training and driving the overall selling behaviors, positive performance results, and operational excellence of one or more stores. Responsible for ensuring the team is providing memorable and elevated guest experiences, while also maintaining a continuous focus on employee engagement. Drives department visions into action through an informed and motivated team focused on guest experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Leads Retail team in achieving sales goals: leads by example and works along-side store team while modeling and implementing Service and Selling expectations.  Motivates, inspires, and challenges others to improve selling behaviors for a successful service and selling environment.

2. Models and improves accurate store operations to optimize productivity and ensure compliance with all policy and procedures, visual merchandising standards and inventory management; to create a desirable team member and guest experience.

3. Provides coaching and mentorship to optimize productivity and increase sales; ensures team performance is consistently on target to maintain an elevated guest experience and a team that drives positive performance results. 

4. Recruits, hires, and trains top-level talent to excel in a service and selling environment; Conducts performance evaluations to assess training needs, build career paths; and maintain growth for a strong future of succession planning.

5. Responsible for management and execution of special events to enhance brand loyalty.

6. Schedules to needs of business operations; publishes schedules in designated time-frame.

7. Professionally and courteously responds to team member and guest requests; diffuses guest concerns or issues as needed to uphold guest experience and escalates issues of heightened concern.

8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree in Retail, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience required. Previous retail experience strongly preferred. 

  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.  

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Exceptional organization, strategic planning, and leadership skills.  

  • Ability to build effective working relationships. 

  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player. 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.  

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point is essential. 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.

  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.

  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.

  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.

  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
