Job Summary: The Supervisor, Physician Office – GI, supervises physician office staff in daily practice operations to ensure efficient workflows and the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role provides direct support to both front and back-office teams and serves as a backup to staff, performing essential functions in their absence to maintain effective operations and patient satisfaction.
Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Certification.
Work Experience: Minimum 3 years in Healthcare environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong understanding of healthcare delivery processes in the medical office. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides hands-on support to both front office and back-office operations. Prepares reports and correspondence pursuant to physician practice daily operations as required. Coordinates the daily operations of the physician practice site. Recruits, orients, counsels, and evaluates a team of engaged employees to assure quality patient care. Acts as a liaison for patients, government agencies, third-party payers, and between administration, physicians, and staff, providing a central on-site contact for each practice site. Assures staff knowledge of and compliance with all relevant organizational, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Leads quality improvement and safety initiatives while fostering employee engagement and collaboration as team members. Proficiently uses the IDX Systems Corporation electronic medical record system and other computer applications to optimize patient care efficiency. Assists in the monitoring of the practice site revenue generation and expense allocations.
Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from a supervisor.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
