Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on activities related to the support services functions, such as dietary and food services, environmental services, general facilities, repair and maintenance, parking, sterilization and transportation to ensure all required support activities are completed in a timely manner and meet the organization's quality standards and expectations. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Environmental Services duties: Researches the environmental effects of activities to develop methods of controlling or minimizing factors contributing to environmental damage and/or improve the effectiveness of restorative activities. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises para-professional employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting day-to-day operational objectives for team, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Job Overview
Supervise the daily operations of assigned Environmental Services and Hospitality Services staff performance and workflow. Ensure that assignments are being performed thoroughly and effectively. Responsible for staff performance assessment, development, and training. Responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations and collaboration with other management and supervisory team members to support the department in its daily functions.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Three (3) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bilingual.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Supervise the daily operations of assigned Environmental Services and Hospitality Services staff performance and workflow.
2. Supervise staff on all functions and processes provided.
3. Prepare master work and time schedules, coordinate time off and review daily adjustments in the work schedule.
4. Perform quality control reviews and initiatives to ensure hospital and regulatory standards are being met.
5. Complete performance evaluations for assigned staff and coordinate the establishment of goals and objectives for assigned staff.
6. Responsible for the interview, selection process, hiring process, orientation set up, training set up, competency testing for all new hires.
7. Responsible for the counseling and mentoring and discipline of employees.
8. Recommend promotion, demotion, or termination when identified.
9. Recommend process improvements to leadership and empower employees to bring forward their process improvement ideas.
10. Responsible for input to the writing, reviewing, and revising policy and procedures pertaining to area of responsibility.
11. Provide oversight of inventories, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs.
Physical Requirements:
1. Standing, walking, bending, and stretching majority of shift.
2. Ability to push heavy loaded carts and lift between 30-60 lbs.
3. Occasional climbing of ladders.
4. Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, blood, body waste, and contaminated waste. Exposure to climate conditions when depositing trash in compactor.
5. Possibility of cuts and needle punctures.
6. Occasional exposure to hazards which may cause serious injury/illness (T.B., hepatitis, rodent bites). When working in non-patient areas, those hazards are minimal.
7. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate prescription medications and computer keyboard.
