Summary

Facilitates nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography (PET) services. Manages day to day schedules and ensures appropriate levels of service are provided based on patient needs and employee skills. Develop, implement and evaluate new policy and procedures related to field. Ensure all nuclear regulatory commission (NRC) standards are current and met.

Job Description

Oversee employees who must utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Supervise staffing, supplies and equipment related to the nuclear medicine department and proactive planning for future needs. Must maintain current skill knowledge in area of expertise as will be expected to use these skills when necessary. Aware of and maintains accreditation within the department through the inter-societal commission for the accreditation of nuclear medicine laboratories (ICANL). Actively participate in tasks force, committees, staff meetings, etc. to assist with the department initiatives, implement goals, and organizational strategies. Manages the process in reviewing results of clinical performance assessments and recommends process improvements. Implements established performance improvement policies and trains employees on these policies. Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Assist with providing feedback in the collection and preparation of required budget information. Understand the critical components associated and required to achieve intended results and ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining, and leveraging talent across the unit. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Trains others on main considerations and issues related to laws and regulations in the implementation of healthcare practices. Collaborate and actively participate in measuring employee performance. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. Maintains current certifications in specialty, continues education when necessary as well as tracks, and maintains for staff as needed.

Qualifications

Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is highly preferred. Associate level degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will consider a minimum of three years’ experience as a staff technologist.

Minimum of two years leadership/management experience with the operation and function of nuclear medicine equipment, and department functions and operations preferred.

Certification with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required. In addition for the state of North Dakota (ND), licensed with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) board. Registered in positron emission tomography (PET) helpful. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of employment, recertification as required. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
