What is a Supervisor of Meter Reading & Revenue Protection?
The Supervisor of Meter Reading and Revenue Protection oversees their designated classified and contractor workforce and promotes the highest level of customer service and customer satisfaction by assuring meters are read, probed or electronically interrogated, and that special reads dispatch orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
What does a Supervisor of Meter Reading & Revenue Protection do?
Primary Duties:
Plans, schedules, coordinates, supervises and directs activities, safety, and functions of contractor meter readers and meter reader employees
Collaborates with and develops good working relationships with internal stakeholder departments to maintain high levels of meter reading customer service and billing accuracy
Provides operational control and utilization of Itron FCS and meter reading technology
Assists with the deployment of technology and support of software; testing and installation, maintenance, upgrades, new meters, collection of data and time sensitive distribution of internal/external reports
Provides appropriate contractor oversight and control in assigned area of responsibility by assuring appropriate use of company assets including controlling of costs, budget items, personal direct and indirect leadership, and fulfillment of organizational and personal goals and objectives
Assists with a range of operations functions, including providing support to the Collections team
Provides technical support, training and supervision for field personnel assigned to the department
Responds to after-hours emergencies for gas odor calls and electric emergencies as a Supervisor-on-Call (when qualified and trained) and provides support for storm restoration efforts as needed
Secondary Duties:
Oversees safety awareness and employee safety education
Controls, investigates, and concludes all reports of theft of service
Assures the safekeeping and proper recording of all customer keys weekly
Monitors and controls budget allowances for payroll (overtime), materials and supplies and purchases
Supervisory and technical oversight of the various technology systems within the department including, but not limited to, the FCS Meter Reading System, MDC Mobile Data Collector and AMI
Coordinates and collaborates daily with other department supervision to make safe, remove or replace damaged and/or abandoned metering installations
Conducts monthly reviews of individual productivity as compared to metric goals and addresses any performance issues immediately
What does it take to be a Supervisor of Meter Reading & Revenue Protection?
Required:
Associate’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems or a related field and 3 years of related work experience in customer service, technical role, operations, management or business role/function. In lieu of an associate’s degree, a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of related work experience in customer service, technical role, operations, management or business role/function
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop, schedule and coordinate training for contractors and/or employees and manage multiple projects daily; strong organization and planning skills
Ability to analyze individual and team performance, make recommendations to management personnel, and implement productivity improvements
Ability to multitask, juggle priorities, handle difficult situations, and use good judgment
Must demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn, promote a strong work ethic, and be committed to a positive customer service approach
Must be willing to respond to requests to work outside of normal work hours
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems or a relevant field
Experience and/or interest in the electric and gas utility industry
Supervisory experience and/or experience directing logistical or field work
SAP experience
