GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Materials Management Supervisor provides front-line leadership and operational accountability for assigned Materials Management functions, including inventory control, distribution, and departmental support services. This role serves as the primary link between daily operations and management strategy, ensuring performance targets, service expectations, and regulatory standards are consistently met while developing staff for future leadership roles.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, and manage the day-to-day operations of the team; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; manage to assigned budgets. (20%)

  • Accountable for daily operational performance across assigned Materials Management areas (inventory accuracy, PAR integrity, service levels, stockout prevention, and workflow efficiency). (20%)

  • Provides operational oversight and coordination for ancillary and shared support functions under Materials Management, including logistics, distribution, vendor access workflows, and other service areas as assigned, responding to operational disruptions, recalls, backorders, and urgent system needs. (15%)

  • Supervises assigned staff including scheduling, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management; supports engagement, productivity, and succession readiness.(15%)

  • Tracks key operational metrics, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions; leads continuous improvement and standard work adoption. (10%)

  • Partners with clinical and support departments to resolve supply issues and align processes with operational needs; ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards. Other Duties as assigned or required. (10%)

  • Supports financial stewardship through labor management, inventory control, waste reduction, and reporting/forecasting support for the Materials Manager. (10%)

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Associate's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration 

  • 3 years of experience in materials management or inventory operations experience

Substitution:

  • In lieu of an Associate’s degree, three (3) years of relevant Materials Management or Supply Chain experience may be substituted

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration.

  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare or hospital materials environment.

Skills:

  • People management and staff development.

  • Inventory control and supply chain systems.

  • Operational performance management.

  • Process improvement and standardization.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Microsoft Excel and related systems proficiency.
