Position Overview:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily transportation and logistics operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of goods across the network. This role leads a team of logistics professionals, manages vendor relationships, and drives continuous improvement in service performance, safety, and operational efficiency.

Job Description:
Transportation Operations
- Supervise daily inbound and outbound transportation activities, including reverse logistics.
- Monitor logistics service providers (LSPs) to ensure adherence to delivery schedules, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Support freight audit processes and assist in resolving transportation-related claims (damage, loss, service failures).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to reduce manual tasks.
- Act as point of contact for escalations; resolve complaints related to logistics operations.
- Ensure alignment with customer service expectations and internal SLAs.
Vendor Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with vendors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Participate in vendor performance reviews and contribute to strategic sourcing decisions.
- Provide feedback on vendor performance and escalate issues as needed.
- Assist in implementing vendor management programs and support procurement during RFP processes.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the team and vendor network.
- Conduct regular audits and ensure documentation is up to date.
Performance & Reporting
- Review and validate transportation data for KPI reporting.
- Support system updates and troubleshooting for transportation management systems (TMS).
- Prepare operational reports and highlight areas for improvement.
- Use data insights to recommend operational improvements.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team.
- Foster collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members.
Specific Skills:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage complex logistics scenarios.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management across internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency in logistics systems and MS Excel.
- Ability to balance attention to detail with broader operational priorities.
- Analytical skills for interpreting transportation data and identifying trends.
- Leadership and team-building skills to foster engagement and accountability.
- Adaptability to fast-paced environments and changing priorities.
Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of transportation and logistics operations.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding, carrier management, and supply chain principles.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and vendor relationships.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (e.g., Manhattan TMS or similar).
- Understanding of cost control, budgeting, and performance metrics in logistics.
- Knowledge of team leadership principles and workforce scheduling.
Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in transportation and logistics operations.
- 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, SCMP, etc.) are considered an asset.
