Job Summary:
Leads and develops the geotechnical and structural surveying team, assigns and coordinates project tasks, and ensures delivery of T&D surveying and design targets, resulting in consistent, high quality project execution.Job Description:
Supervises daily land surveying operations for T&D projects to ensure accurate routing, right‑of‑way assessments, and high‑quality deliverables.
Coordinates resource allocation and collaborates across teams to meet operational and project targets efficiently.
Implements updated surveying processes, standards, and HSE practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
Provides LiDAR and point‑cloud processing support and integrates emerging geospatial technologies, including drones, GNSS, photogrammetry, and advanced instrumentation, to enhance engineering analysis and project capabilities.
Performs field surveying and supports drafting, geospatial data preparation, and drawing development as needed to maintain productivity during complex or peak‑demand projects.
Guides and trains surveying staff, addressing skill gaps and promoting technical accuracy, high performance, and a positive team environment.
Collaborates with field engineers, regional leaders, and external partners to resolve issues and maintain effective workflow.
Reviews cost estimates, work plans, performance metrics, and contractor results to support financial planning, identify improvements, and ensure on‑time, within‑scope delivery.
Trains employees, provides ongoing coaching, and identifies skill gaps to support development and resolve issues impacting productivity or quality.
Applies strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to resolve employee concerns and conflicts, fostering a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
Tracks team expenses and payroll to ensure adherence to budget guidelines and support cost control
Monitors and guides team compliance with organizational standards and legal requirements to minimize risk and ensure operational integrity.
Participates in and ensures team participation in critical restoration tasks and drills following storms and/or emergencies to maintain service continuity and operational safety.
Executes and delegates additional responsibilities based on team and business needs to ensure continuity and responsiveness in operational responsiveness.
Additional Job Description:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field from an accredited university.
Experience
4 years of experience in utility surveying, with at least 2 years in a lead role, overseeing employees directly or indirectly.
Competencies (Skills)
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, capable of effectively engaging with both internal and external customers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, preferably in English and Spanish.
Experience with AutoCAD, GIS software, and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) to support mapping, analysis, and documentation tasks.
Ability to apply sound judgment and advanced analytical/problem‑solving skills to make effective decisions and resolve complex technical challenges.
Ability to manage and resolve conflict while maintaining a positive, professional team environment.
Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
License/Certifications
Valid Driver’s license
Professional Land Surveying License issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects
