Your Role

The Supervisor II, Facilities & Maintenance’s primary responsibility is to maintain, improve and control the safe and efficient function of the plant manufacturing and facilities equipment; to establish and manage preventative maintenance systems, schedules, and documentation and to manage all programs pertaining to the areas of safety, quality, cost, and delivery within the department.

The Maintenance Supervisor ensures strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Medical Device Manufacturing facility.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to safety guidelines and policies.
  • Responsible for supervision and direction of maintenance and facilities activities for a two (2) shift production schedule up to a 16-hour / 5-day operation with occasional weekend overtime.
  • Develop, implement and manage predictive and preventive maintenance program to meet the requirements of FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
  • Document development work including writing procedures, preventive maintenance work order instruction, reports, and validation protocols.
  • Support the site CAPA/NCR system, by owning or supporting investigations, by using different root cause analysis tools.
  • Responsible for overseeing contract services including cleaning, security, pest control, and outsourced facilities preventative maintenance activities.
  • Organize, review, prioritize, and schedule daily Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) work. Efficiently coordinate the workflow and documentation of PMs and Wos in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitor and report equipment OEE performance and reliability data and identify any possible trending. Using data analysis, troubleshoot and determine root causes of equipment failures and develop solutions to prevent future failures.
  • Evaluate downtime and spare consumption data, and documentation related to manufacturing equipment and systems to generate proactive and timely actions to optimize availability and reliability.
  • Supervise the maintenance and modification of new and existing manufacturing to ensure all equipment is returned to service in compliance with GMP principles and within the qualified or validates state.
  • Develop, implement and manage spare parts in the CMMS to assure preventive maintenance and operation continuity. Coordinate spare parts inventories and develop appropriate cost effectiveness on parts usage.
  • Administer the manufacturing equipment expenditures, create and issue purchase orders, and forecast expenses.
  • Plan and supervise all the activities from the maintenance group and other areas related to the December break.
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
  • Partners with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of projects into day-to-day operations.
  • Ensures team’s compliance with Baxter Healthcare department policies and laws.
  • Manage employees and team performance; provide new employee orientation; train or provide adequate training for employees
  • Coordinate and manage the duties of maintenance personnel including job scheduling, assignment, communication and follow-up activities.
  • Develop job skills and abilities of all maintenance personnel to improve department capabilities and efficiencies and to achieve cost effective maintenance programs.
  • Manage and ensure effective employee/labor relations; create an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment;
  • Interview, hire and terminate employees.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2-year degree or equivalent training/experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Be familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Understand the design, installation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment that support a complex manufacturing plant.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of manufacturing equipment, using blueprints, equipment manuals, specifications, standard operating procedures, and be able to use proper judgment when taking corrective actions during equipment malfunction.
  • Have working knowledge of hazardous chemicals and their disposal, OSHA, EPA, and FDA requirements.
  • Must have very strong verbal and written communication skills, documentation practices (cGDPs), be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to update procedures and modify processes to simplify their complexity and improve efficiency.

The physical requirements of this position

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision

The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position

The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
